Bio_Coll.jpgThe teachers are everywhere, what is wanted is a learner” says Wendell Berry. We are here, we are learners. As humans, we are a relatively young species and, deep within, we have an affinity for nature. We feel awe and wonder – from flowers, birds, mountain peaks, rivers, sunsets, and thunderstorms.

Our team of six practicing biomimics will join together in a remote log cabin in the mountains of Montana in early September. We will “press pause”, slowing down and reflecting. We will gather lessons and draw inspiration from Nature that will help us empower current and future change-makers in the K-12 educational system – our young people, their educators, and their communities – to understand and take action on climate change. » Read More

Pacific_standard_logo.pngFrom ITP Grant Partner, Mark Schapiro:

Hi friends and colleagues,

In the week before President Trump abandoned the Paris climate agreement, the fossil fuel companies that had once supported the administration in a groundbreaking lawsuit jumped ship, afraid of being forced to reveal key documents.  Now the Trump administration has been maneuvered into a legal corner. My story on how this legal challenge could be much harder to dodge than even the Paris climate accord. Hope you find of interest. Its here, in Pacific Standard

ITP is proud announce the selection of 2016 ITP Grant Partner Sandra Kwak, Founder and CEO of 10Power, as one of the 2017 Echoing Green Fellows:

"I am humbled and honored to have been selected for Echoing Green, a Fellowship with alumni network that includes Van Jones and Michelle Obama! My peers in the 2017 cohort are doing amazing things: data for black lives, worker owned cooperatives in the rust belt, women's small-share-farm-holder organizing in Zimbabwe, student-led peace initiatives in South Sudan, refugee legal and empowerment services, advanced coral reef restoration technology and so much more (see link below). Incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported 10Power in getting to where we are today. Thank you to our team, our investors, our advisors, our grantors Maggie Kaplan @Invoking The Pause and Summer Meyer @Presidio Graduate School. Excited for all to come!"

Impact Hours Series
clock.jpegITP is very excited about current Grant Partner Tara DePorte of Human Impact Hours and her Impact Hours program - Amplifying and Inspiring Impact.  The Impact Hours series will dig into ongoing environmental and social justice work, while sharing tools for more effective personal and organizational action.  Helping people navigate the current climate of information “clutter” is more important than ever.  Each Impact Hour will include perspectives from an artist, activist, and academic on issues of communication, engagement, action, and impact.  Together, we will challenge each other's assumptions and share practical tactics for sparking social change.  Join in-person in NYC (space is limited) or online from around the world.  Read more about the series topics and sign up to participate: » Read More

ITP_FB_logo.jpgThe Invoking The Pause Advisory Committee met recently to select grant partners for the 2017 grant cycle from a pool of over 40 applicants. The proposals came from scientists and artists, activists and actors. As we reviewed the requests, we were inspired by the creativity and quality of the collaborations seeking climate challenge solutions across so many different disciplines. This year, we selected 8 extraordinary projects to receive Invoking The Pause support.

We have also additionally funded 6 previous projects with a "Seeding Possibilities" grant to help take them to the next level.

Please visit the Grant Partner section of our website to view the list and learn about their projects.
